The Traka is Gravel Earth Series' signature event and one of the most influential gravel weekends in the world outside North America — a livestreamed pair of races through the Girona countryside that's become the closest thing European gravel has to Unbound's marquee status. Girona's standing as a pro-cycling training hub (a huge contingent of WorldTour riders, and now gravel pros, live there) gives the event a level of course refinement and local cycling culture that few other gravel destinations can match. It is also a massive amateur race — one of the largest on the European calendar.
The two distances are scored entirely separately rather than as tiers of one race, and riders choose one or the other. Riders taking on the 360 km on Saturday are making a real commitment to the ultra-endurance side of gravel racing; the 200 km the following day has earned a reputation as the biggest single-day gravel race in Europe by field size, drawing roughly 3,000+ riders — including most of the pro field, who tend to prefer it to the 360.
Together, the two distances give Girona back-to-back marquee gravel days each May, reinforcing the region's position as European gravel's unofficial capital, much the way Emporia functions for American gravel around Unbound.
The 360's course typically opens with a major climb to break the field up before flattening into the Girona lowlands; it usually carries over 3,000 m (~10,000 ft) of total climbing, with narrow paths, trails, and two-track sections that make it noticeably more mountainous than most American gravel races. Organizers (Klassmark) have cited course safety as an area of ongoing focus and have indicated further changes are planned for 2027.
Registration opens in July for the following year’s race and sells out quickly.
